High Commission is to introduce a “Guardian Declaration Form” and a new “Request for Visa Letter form”.
19 Feb 2010
High Commission would be introducing a whole new form called a “Guardian Declaration Form”, which is to legalese and expedite the procedure of appointing a guardian for the students whose parents are not accompanying him or her while their stay in Sri Lanka. It was decided to introduce the form on a meeting which was held at the Sri Lankan Department of Immigration and Emigration between the High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Ali Hussain Didi and the Controller General of Immigrations Mr. P. B. Abeykoon.
Since the High Commission was notified that the Department of Immigration and Emigration has suspended the service of issuing the guardian visa for those who are not the parents of the student, the High Commission raised the issue to the Controller General of Immigrations. With respect to the agreement which was signed between the governments of Maldives and Sri Lanka on the year 2008, which states that a legal guardian who is appointed by the parents, may reside with the student in Sri Lanka, it was decided to introduce a “Guardian Declaration Form” to solve the issue. The form will be introduced from the 01 March 2010.
The High Commission is also please to announce that a fresh layout of the form “Request for Visa Letter” will also be introduced from the 01 March 2010.
